2007 e-INSTITUTE for Teachers and Paraprofessionals

The teacher and paraprofessional component is a one week intensive summer program for 6th through 12th grade science and mathematics teachers.  The program is open to teachers and paraprofessionals who work in science, mathematics and technology.  There are 20 positions available and participants will take a graduate level 3 credit course at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, NM.  Educators will learn teaching strategies that utilize Microsoft Office software and web resources such as ArcExplorer.  The focus will be on environmental science and information technology, incorporating community-based education concepts. Teachers will attend 2 one day summits, one in the fall and one in the spring to further develop units.  Also, teachers will participate in a once a month chat room/message board to discuss pedagogical aspects of the infusion and implementation of IT in schools and Pueblo communities.
