e-XPERIENCES are designed to provide information technology (IT) experiences for students and teachers. The three year project began in the summer of 2006. e-XPERIENCES is a project of Santa Fe Indian School with funding from the National Science Foundation. The goals of the project are:

• to interest Pueblo students in pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers in order to become IT professionals and advocates for tribal environmental protection and cultural preservation.

• to develop stronger relationships between Pueblo leadership and CENAC schools to further develop our students' interest to pursue higher education in STEM fields.

• to have teachers and paraprofessionals in science and mathematics departments use a curriculum that is rich with community based education ideas, reflecting learning priorities articulated by tribal leadership for students at Santa Fe Indian School and other CENAC school. By doing this, Pueblo communities are given a voice in how their children are educated.

The project is designed to provide intensive summer activities in science and mathematics for students and teachers with supporting activities in the following school year. The course will utilize technology and demonstrate how technology is a powerful tool than can help Pueblo communities deal with challenges and expectations of a digital world. By bringing all these goals together, the Pueblo ITEST Project will begin to address a need for our students to pursue careers to support an emerging technological infrastructure in Pueblo communities.
